Magic Thursday: A Lindisfarne Psychic Experience with Cathleen Ross!

The psychic gene has long been in my family. When I was young, I used to see ghosts. I was surprised but not scared. My mother used to entertain us with family stories such as her uncle as a child told his mother that he had seen an angel come down and take the baby away. When my great grandmother looked in the cot, the baby was dead.

I found as I grew older, the psychic thing became intrusive, so I joined a circle in order to learn how to protect myself and the steps on how to shut it down. This has proven very effective for me. I tend only to open up in class or when I’m in England in the Cathedrals.

So, with that introduction, this year I went to Lindisfarne, Holy Island in Northumberland on the Alison Weir tour. It’s important to give a little bit of history in order for you to understand the vision I had while I was there. In 684, St Cuthbert was the bishop at Holy Island until the Viking raids over the years drove him and his brethren off. When he passed away in 687, he was buried in Lindisfarne, the place becoming a site for pilgrims.

So I sat in peace meditating and a small voice said to me, “We tried.” I knew it was one of the monks. It was a timid voice, so I spoke to him calmly about how it wasn’t their fault. No one could withstand the Viking raids. To give an indication of what it was like for these poor peaceful men see below:

Alcuin, a Northumbrian scholar in Charlemaine’s court at the time, wrote: "Never before has such terror appeared in Britain as we have now suffered from a pagan race ... The heathens poured out the blood of saints around the altar, and trampled on the bodies of saints in the temple of God, like dung in the streets." During the attack many of the monks were killed, or captured and enslaved. (Source: Wikipedia)

It’s not usual for me to have these sorts of communications in Holy places as the psychic channel is very clear. For those who don’t have this gift, I can only describe it as being in a channel of white light where I can see and hear things clearly.

Later that morning, I went and sat on the seat next to the giant sculpture of St Cuthbert. Then a vision opened up. I saw lots of monks standing closely together facing the statue. Their cloaks were long and their hoods were up. They were a near black colour and very stiff as if impregnated with wax. I couldn’t see the face, not a nose, not anything. Just black dressed monks all facing the same way. I knew I had stepped back into the past when the monks worshipped in Lindisfarne.

Later that day, I went to one of the three pubs to have a coffee, and I ran into our tour leader, eminent historian, Alison Weir. She’s used to me telling her the odd things I see and always gives me a logical historical interpretation. I was explaining that the robes were close to black but not perfectly black and of course, Alison gave the historical perspective that the monks didn’t have dyes like we do. Also, the hoods were fashioned that way, so they could have privacy in prayer.

History tells us in 793, the monks fled, digging up and carrying St. Cuthbert’s incorrupt remains away to eventually be buried in Durham Cathedral.

So while Lindisfarne remains a beautiful ruin, I think some of the monks have remained, which from my experience is not unusual. When you die you have choice. You don’t have to cross over if you don’t want to. These men choose to stay.

DarkLight On...Cathleen Ross: Growing Up Psychic!

Cathleen talks about growing up psychic in this post.

Welcome Cathleen!

Growing Up Psychic

I’ve seen dead people since I was a child and no matter how many I’ve seen, I’ve never been scared. Perhaps because I come from a mother who saw them too.

My mother used to tell me about the ghosts she’d encountered in England where she grew up and it

Great Grandmother Laura Ross

seemed that it was a family thing. When Mother’s uncle, David, was a child, he told his mother, Laura Ross, that an angel had come down and taken the baby away. Laura looked into the cot and the baby was dead. I checked my family tree and there is indeed a baby born after David who passed away.

Mother would also tell me that when she was a child, perhaps younger than three, she saw a maid walk down the stairs and through the wall. She asked her mother if that was her nanny, but it was the nanny’s day off. She always said she was too young to have made it up but the fact that someone could walk through the wall, didn’t make sense to her, so she remembered it.

These stories seemed normal to me as a child, so when I saw my first ghost at the age of twelve, a young girl wearing a shroud, staring at me with hatred, I kept rubbing my eyes in disbelief but not fear. She slowly faded away to nothing. Although I never discovered anything more about that ghost, I did recognise she had an intense energy about her. Later, when my parents put the house up for sale, a lady had wanted to buy it, but she said she didn’t because she dreamed there was a horrid ghost on the stairs. I simply nodded my head in acceptance. After all, I had already met her.

It wasn’t until my thirties that I noticed the family psychic gift passed down to my daughter. My daughter started to see dead people around the age of two and refused to sleep in her own bed. This went on for years until finally I sought the advice of the school counsellor. The counsellor said that although she didn’t see anything herself, it wasn’t unusual for children to come to her and tell her that they would see someone sitting on the end of the bed with them at night. One day, my daughter came into our bedroom and said, “Mum, there’s a man in my bedroom.” I went in and of course, there was no one there. This man kept appearing to her both at night and in the morning. She was too young to have the word for Mambo, but she held up a shirt in my husband’s closet and said, “this is what he is wearing”. I showed the shirt to my mother who said, “That’s the shirt I gave your brother before he died”.

Mother Nanette Ross
When I was in my forties, I became more and more psychic. I would know things about people without asking them. It felt intrusive to me, so I went to psychic school to learn how to open up and also how to shut down. This is done by first breathing deeply, bringing in guides and angels, then imagining you have grown roots deep into the earth. I also imagine a column of light penetrating my crown chakra and descending through my body. It is when in this meditative state, I can channel for people, give them advice their loved ones wish for them to hear. For example, I was sitting near a man in a pub and my friend, Catherine Cockburn said Cathleen Ross is psychic. The man next to me scathingly asked me to tell his fortune, so I did. I had never met him before, but I could see that he was about to have a business meeting with another man in America and that he wasn’t going to accept the deal. He looked at me and said, “You can’t possibly know that.” When we went home to Catherine’s place, he sent his wife over to talk to me. The next minute Catherine’s neighbours were popping up over the hedge asking for readings. When I left, Catherine told me the village women were annoyed she’d let me leave without telling their fortunes. To shut down, I draw my aura in and close off each chakra, so I’m not bothered by other people’s intrusive thoughts and worries.

Hever Castle

Recently I went to stay at Hever Castle. I put my hand to Anne Boleyn’s Book of Hours. Apparently, she carried it to the scaffold before she was beheaded. Unspeakable horror came off the book. No words. None at all. Just dry-throated horror. Although she went to her death a queen, appearing calm and dignified, Anne was human. I could feel her fingers clutching the book and her terror of what was about to happen to her. When I put my hand up to Catherine of Aragon’s Book of Hours, there was nothing but calm. It’s interesting that with my gift I can feel the sensations of people who have been dead for hundreds of years.

One thing I’ve learned having this gift, it that this life is not the only one we live. That our bodies are a place to house a soul. We do cross over to be with our loved ones when we leave this plane and that is very comforting. Do we choose to come back? Well, that’s a story for another blog.

Magic Thursday: Psychic Ability with Cathleen Ross

Psychic ability runs down the female line of my family but I found after I had my daughter it was becoming intrusive in that I would know things I shouldn’t about people. For example, it  might be a friend’s husband playing around. I would get a flash or an image. Once I saw a prostitute putting on her makeup in the Middle East preparing for my friend’s husband. I had the wife sitting on my left-hand side oblivious and the husband on my right.

I quietly told the male friend what I had seen and he confirmed that it was the case, so I knew it wasn’t my imagination. In fact he looked at me and said: “How did you do that?”

The issue was I didn’t want to know these things so I had to go to psychic school where I learned to shut myself down and the messages stopped. I also learned how to open myself up at the appropriate time to learn how to connect to the astral level and my guides. These places are what we would call another dimension.

I meditate every week with a spiritual group, which is run on strict
guidelines, allowing only positive energy and the head medium is very strict. When doing this work it’s very important to be with people who are of high integrity, who are working for the greater good. We usually start with a meditation to get a message for one of the group. Initially I found this difficult. I never saw anything but with time I started to get messages and could see images from both dead and alive people who I didn’t know but the message would always be accurate. Once I saw the dead father of one of the meditators standing in front of her, telling his daughter to retire from work. The daughter had had two hip replacements and was still going to work. The next week she fell over and broke her leg. Finally, she retired.

When my mother died I was in great grief but in a deep meditation with the group, my spirit guide took my hand and I went to visit my mother. I saw her sitting scrunched up under the arm of my grandmother. Mum had had dementia for a long time and she was still healing. My great grandparents, my aunt and uncle were there too and I realized that this was my soul group, the people I will hang out with when I die. It made me very happy. Mum is in good hands.

The annoying thing is I can’t see for myself. I can see for my husband and daughter. My husband works in the property area. He always goes off to auction and asks me beforehand if he is going to get the property. I like yes or no situations. I never get it wrong. One time I looked at an auction in the future and I could see lots of men who were of an Indian nationality. I said to my husband that the property would be bought by an Indian. After the auction, husband came home and said, “You were right and wrong. I didn’t get the land but it was bought by a Caucasian man.”

I just shrugged. The next day we caught a taxi being driven by an Indian man who knew about the auction. He said, “the white man was the stooge. He bought the property for my Indian friend.”

Hubby just looked at me. It’s great always being right when you’re the wife.
