Transylvania!

But the worst part is that my demon husband is hiding more than the secrets of my inheritance, which given my newfound luck just might do me in before the vamps get their chance.

Mom always did say marriage was hell. If only she knew how right she was…

The Secrets in Shadow and Blood by Lana Pecherczyk (Book 4, Fae Guardians) is expected to be released on 22 February.

In the shadows, vision can turn blurry. Truths can become lies. Enemies can become lovers.

When Violet inexplicably wakes thousands of years after a nuclear holocaust, she finds the world very different. Fae exist now. They’re vicious, animalistic monsters who pervert magic and can morph into any shape—including vampires. They hoard the bounty of the new world, and keep humans banished to the wasteland. At least, that’s what the humans of today have told her. Determined to make up for an unforgivable mistake in her past, she becomes a covert assassin and seeks revenge for her human brethren. And she’s good at it. But when the thing she hunts saves her life, injuring himself in the process… her crystal clarity suddenly becomes blurry.

Vampires are meant to be monsters, not protectors… not charismatic, annoyingly handsome and loyal and… everything.

Indigo is a Fae Guardian, and a ruthless vampire protector of Elphyne. The Order has tasked him with finding a human with deadly secrets before the unhinged Unseelie Queen, or the fanatical human leader, can exploit her. They chose him for one reason, and one reason only – the taste of human blood does things to him. Addictive, dark, insatiable things. And when he catches Violet’s scent, they know he’ll do everything in his power to covet her and keep her safe. But Indigo hides his own shameful secret in the shadows of his heart, and if it ever comes to light, Violet will never trust him. She’ll kill him.

Moon Kissed
by
Mila Young
and Jordan Crow (Book 2, Chosen Vampire Slayer) is expected to be released 11 March.

There’s a war on…
...and we’re on the losing side.

But that’s not the only problem I’ve got. Someone or something is killing off the humans in Anchorage... and the fallout is landing right on our shoulders.

Or at least on those of us left.

Seth has vanished. I refuse to believe he’s gone for good. I won’t. If I have to go through heaven and hell to find him, that’s just what I’ll do. I owe him that.

And I’m on it as hot and heavy as the growing attraction between me and the monsters I’ve fallen for. Which is more than complicated. And could use some of my time...

But I’ve got none.

Another monster, one hidden in the shadows, is making it his business to get in my way. Which means the boys and I have our hands full just surviving another day. And things are only getting worse.

There’s something coming for me, and it won’t stop until I’m dead.

All Shot to Hell by Mila Young and Haper A. Brooks (Book 3, Sin Demons) is expected to be released 25 February.

Playing devil's advocate with three demons? There's no way I am ever going to win.

Things were finally going right for us. We got the relics back. We defeated the dragon. I thought we’d won. But we’ve ended up losing so much more…

Cain’s severely wounded, and I don’t know how to save him. Losing him shouldn’t bother me, but it does. A lot.

Elias and Dorian have a plan: seek out help from people who wield the darkest and cruelest of magic. We soon find that the only one with enough power to bring the Prince of Hell back from death is a master of death itself. But nothing can be done for free and the price has us traveling across the world and facing a slew of new dangers, ones none of us are prepared for.

Even with everything shot to hell, the demons remain a constant temptation I don’t need. Being with them only seems to fan the flames, but letting me go depends on finding all of Hell’s relics.

And if I’m being honest, I’m not sure what I’ll do once my soul is freed.

Magic Thursday: Finishing a Series with Claire Leggett

This week marks the release of The Servant’s Grace, the final book in my Emperor’s Conspiracy series. For me, the last novel in a series holds so many emotions. First there are the nerves. This is the last book, the one where all the loose threads have to be tied up, where the bad guy has to get his comeuppance and everyone needs to live happily ever after. That’s a lot of expectation to deal with.

Next is the excitement. It’s the last book. I can soon look forward to working on the shiny new idea which has been nagging me for the past several months. I can build new worlds with new maps and new species and wreak havoc on some other poor souls.

Finally there’s the sadness. I’ll be saying goodbye to my characters who I’ve cheered for, cried with and grown to love. It’s bittersweet to know their lives and mine will never cross paths again and I have to leave them to their own devices. I will miss them.

When I wrote The Servant’s Grace I was particularly nervous. Each story in the series is told by a different heroine, but the first two books revolved around the Rhoran, a Mongolian-like people living on the steppes in yurts. The Assassin’s Gift is a fish-out-of-water tale where the heroine’s whole belief system is turned upside down by these barbarians. The Healer’s Curse features a race against the clock with the heroine having to find a cure for a deadly disease before it wipes out her whole people.

In contrast, The Servant’s Grace is set in the refined comfort of palace life and the heroine is sent to the imperial city, not unlike the Forbidden City in China. My heroine comes from a poor background, has always been told the Rhoran are the enemy and is thrown into a web of intrigue where one wrong comment to the wrong person will have her executed. It’s a spy-thriller with a romance.

Many of the characters I’ve grown to love don’t make an appearance until almost halfway through the book and I worried my readers would be disappointed. But when they finally did appear, I could hear the trumpets blaring and the ancestors celebrating and I wanted to high five each character as they charged onto the page. I can only hope my readers will feel the same way!

So while the launch of The Servant’s Grace is bittersweet, I am currently writing the first book in a new series filled with fae, mystical creatures and a land on the brink of collapse. And I’m having the time of my life. 😊

The Servant's Grace

A tyrannical ruler. A hidden heir. Can a simple handmaiden save her realm from doom?

Lady’s maid Shan works for a privileged family, though she longs to see all servants treated fairly. But when she’s caught with equality propaganda, no favours can keep her from execution. With no other way to save herself, Shan reveals her ability to turn invisible and agrees to a risky mission spying on the emperor.

But with attempts on her mistress’s life and the emperor determined to root out any plot against him, even her power to vanish might not be enough to save her.
Can a lowly servant become the key to saving an empire from a bloodthirsty despot?

The Servant’s Grace is the thrilling conclusion to the Emperor’s Conspiracy fantasy series. If you like determined heroines, high-stakes espionage, and epic power struggles, then you’ll love Claire Leggett’s action-packed finale.

Claire Leggett has loved dragons, magic and everything fantastical since she read The Enchanted Wood by Enid Blyton. As a child she used to sneak to the bottom of the garden in the hope of finding fairies. Alas she never found any, so she brought them alive in her own imagination. Her stories are full of magic, adventure and escape.

When Claire’s not writing she can be found creating her own handmade journals, swinging on a sidecar, or in the garden attempting to grow something other than weeds.

Claire lives in Western Australia with her husband, who loves even her most annoying quirks, and is currently learning how to crochet.
